Reflection 4

THE IMPORTANCE OF USING COLORS IN CREATING INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

As it is known, motivation is very important for learning, and there are many factors that help to foster motivation in the students. The instructional materials are one factor that improves or hinders the motivation in the students because the materials are the tools that the teachers use every day.

If materials are boring and black and white, it is probable that the students will feel demotivated at the time of using those materials. It is better when the materials are in colors, interesting, and call the attention of the students because the motivation gets high; therefore, the students feel the desire to participate and to learn.

The environments or the classroom is part of the materials, and it is also very important, since the way that it is organized will affect the way that students learn. Colors play a very important role in the organization of a classroom, for students will feel motivated when the classroom is well-decorated with colors, even the furniture could be decorated.

It is necessary to pay attention to these details because some teachers do not pay too much attention to the books with no pictures and the unpainted classrooms that they use. If these things were different, the results in the students’ learning would be different, too.
